Agricultural Research Archive for DRC, Rwanda and Burundi

Read and search access to historical research resources

The COBECORE project came to a close after a no-cost extension. However, former COBECORE member Kim Jacobsen recently formalized the publication of some of the data curation work. Data were formally deposited on Zenodo and the website created during the project finally has a permanent character through continued institutional support from the Africa Museum.

The full archive can now be downloaded from Zenodo (after the link), and includes:

  • Bulletin Agricole du Congo Belge et du Ruanda-Urundi
  • Bulletin d’Information de l’INEAC

The online service hosted at the Africa Museum provides data processed using optical character recognition (OCR) and is therefore searchable. The articles of the Agricultural Research Archive for DRC, Rwanda and Burundi (1885-1960) can be read (and searched) at: https://ineac.africamuseum.be/.

Providing access to these documents should provide a new window on historical measurements of importance within the context of agronomy, climate change and a broad context of the colonial history of the research at the time.
