BlueGreen Labs develops and support various R packages. We currently maintain 11 CRAN listed packages reaching over 250K users of R across a variety of research fields both with academia and government.
For example, our {ecmwfr} package is used by the French Atmo Normandie network to model and report air quality indices. While our {snotelr} package is used by the Seattle Public Utilities to monitor and model water stocks for the city. The {snotelr} package has also been used for scientific outreach and visualizations by the US Geological Survey (Vizlab) in their “snow to flow” visualization. Many other packages are actively used for teaching and research.
We focus mainly on the R statistical computing research environment due to the large and user friendly community, but tools are produced on a need basis and can include other programming languages such as FORTRAN (common in ecological modelling) or python (for machine learning workflows).
